Western Day Surgery opened 10 year ago and over the years has provided a variety of surgical procedures for children and adults.
From the beginning of 2008 the facility will provide dental and oral surgery, plastic surgery, ENT surgery, endoscopy procedures, general surgery and gynaecological procedures.
All surgeons and anaethetists apply for clinical privileges by submitting specific documentation to be able to practice at this facility. In addition there is a Medical Advisory Committee which oversees their practice and performance.
Our Director of Clinical Care/Nursing is responsible for the quality of care provided as well as the competence, attitude and performance of the nursing and administrative staff. All the nursing staff have peri-operative experience and are registered with the Nurses Board of Victoria. Our nurses undertake annual mandatory training in life support, infection control, manual handling and fire and safety. In addition there are further training sessions throughout the year to ensure best practice.
